Management at Gold Crest Mines are excited about exploration results from the Luna prospect in Alaska's Kuskokwim mineral belt, the company has announced.

The company's subsidiary, Kisa Gold Mining, has been staking claims over the prospect since 2006 and recently completed an initial sampling and mapping programme, as well as extensive ground geophysical surveys, over the summer of 2007.

Follow-up exploration has shown a defined gold anomaly on the site – a discovery which the company hopes to follow up with a core drilling programme and more exploration work in 2008.

According to Gold Crest Mines, the Kuskowim mineral belt has historically been a major lode gold producer since the early 1900s.

Several major gold deposits have been reported in the northern and central part of the gold belt, with the largest being the Donlin Creek deposit.

Gold Crest Mines, which was first incorporated in 1968, currently is exploring a number of high-potential precious metals prospects in the states if Idaho and Alaska, with the goal of eventually bringing them to production level.
