Reunion Gold set to explore in SurinameThursday, 25th October 2007 (1962 views) A mining company based in Quebec, Canada, is looking to begin exploring eastern Suriname for gold, according to the Associated Press (AP).Reunion Gold is preparing to survey a remote greenstone belt in a project area owned by Grasshopper Aluminium once the land purchase from the company is finalised, an official with Suriname's state-run mining company told AP. The news source also stated that the agreement must be approved by the Toronto Stock Exchange, a decision that Reunion Gold's manager of investor relations, Louise Quinn, expects to be made soon. According to the company's website, Reunion Gold shifted its focus from a gold project in the state of Nevada to the Antino 1 gold property in Suriname, which is situated in South America's Guiana Shield greenstone belts. The company announced earlier this month that it has recently entered into an agreement with Laurention Mountain Resources to acquire ownership of the 96,500 hectare Lely gold project at Lely Mountain in eastern Suriname.
