Resource estimate announced in GhanaFriday, 26th October 2007 (1849 views) An initial resource estimation at south-west Ghana's Esaase gold property has been released, according to Keegan Resources. The estimate recorded 1.43 million ounces of inferred gold resources, with a further 0.24 million ounces recorded in the indicated category, based on a 151-hole drilling programme on the site. Keegan Resources has now announced that it plans to continue exploration efforts on the Esaase property beyond the area initially set out for the resource estimate, with a drilling operation set to begin in 2008. Dan McCoy, president and chief executive of the company, said the complete resource estimate has been a year in the making. "It is a testament to the exceptional strength of the mineralising system that the project has advanced to the resource stage in such a short time." Adding: "We will be focusing on the continued delineation and expansion of the existing resource while we also aggressively explore the other mineralized structures on the property." In addition to the Esaase property, the company has a second gold project in Ghana, the Asumura gold property.
