Sagittarius Mines has entered into a number of social infrastructure development and community partnerships in the Philippines, it has emerged.

The partnerships are part of an initiative taken to reflect the company's commitment to socially responsible mining in the community, according to Sagittarius Mines resident manager Gerardo Laviste.

"We understand that if we are to realise our goals and unlock the substantial potential gains for this region, then we must continue to involve all our partners," he said, adding that the project will work to "significantly improve" local communities as it expands.

The company is currently working with local governments to arrange for the delivery of essential resources to communities in the Tampakan mining area, including electricity and clean water.

According to Indophil Resources, the Tampakan deposit contains 14.6 million ounces of gold and is thought to contain "significant" additional mineralisation potential.
