New format for Dubai International Jewellery WeekWednesday, 21st November 2007 (2743 views) Choice and variety are set to be the main themes of this year's Dubai International Jewellery Week, which has had a makeover for 2007.Visitors can look forward to three events under one roof at this year's event, including Jewellery Collections Dubai, Jewellery Trade Dubai and Areeq Dubai, reports ArabianBusiness.com. Each has a distinct focus and is set to encompass the wide range of watch and jewellery brands now increasing in popularity and market value. Areeq Dubai will showcase fine timepieces and items for the "high-end" connoisseur - a highlight being the unveiling of a Dalumi diamond-studded top mounted in white gold and valued at $1.3 million (£631,000). Meanwhile, Jewellery Collections Dubai concentrates on the retail sector and is set to feature collections from Su-Raj Inter Gold among others. Jewellery Trade Dubai focuses on the trade sector, with seminars and lectures scheduled on topics such as "how to market gold jewellery as an everyday fashion item". According to AME Info, Dubai imports 300 tonnes of gold annually, giving it the nickname City of Gold.
