Thursday, 20th December 2007 (2842 views) A gold wedding ring has been returned to its rightful owner, after turning up in an empty box.Louie Alongi of KJWW Engineering in Rock Island, Iowa, heard something rattling in one of the containers in front of his desk. When he looked inside he discovered a gold wedding ring with two diamonds, but after asking around his firm and sending an email, nobody had claimed it. However, after a few weeks of no respons, Mr Alongi decided to contact some of his company's vendors to see if it could belong to any of their employees. The Quad City Times reports that he called True Value Hardware in Rock Island and was told that employee Sandy Hotle had been "frantic" over the loss of the gold ring, which originally belonged to her aunt. "I prayed that someone would find it," Ms Hotle said, adding that it was of "substantial" value. In a similar incident, the Lake Oswego Review reports that the owner of a gold ring in Lake Oswego was reunited with the item weeks after he lost it in a car park.
