Joint venture partners Maximus Ventures and NFX Gold have announced that a follow-up drill programme at their Larder Lake property in Ontario, Canada, has returned concentrated high-grade gold results.

Under the partnership agreement, Maximus drilled six new holes at the site, targeting the Fernland zone where previous drilling had returned results including 6.9 g/t gold over 13.5 metres.

The drilling tested for extensions of down-plunge to 400 metres and lateral mineralisation 200 metres to both the east and west.

Five of the six holes intersected gold mineralisation, with results including a one-metre stretch of 28.1 g/t gold.

Other returns included 19.9 g/t gold across three metres, 13.1 g/t gold over six metres and 5.9 g/t gold across 1.5 metres.

The companies said that the different styles of mineralisation and its positioning within the target suggest the presence of a new gold zone. Future drilling will attempt to evaluate and define this area.

Larder Lake in south-east Canada is one of three projects currently being developed by Maximus Ventures, the other two being Hope Bay in Nunavut, north-west Canada and the Unity property in Idaho.
