Wednesday, 19th March 2008 (5010 views) A drilling programme is set to start at the Armit Lake property in Ontario, Canada, following the arrival of a diamond drill rig at the site, the company behind the project has said.Canadian exploration and development firm Benton Resources says drilling at Armit Lake will run concurrent to its ongoing work at the Bark Lake project. The exploration campaign will target numerous ground geophysical anomalies, the company said, with at least 15 drill holes planned for a minimum total depth of 2,000 metres. Grab samples from the site collected by Benton Resources returned assays graded at 25.4 g/t gold. This came from an area several kilometres to the north-west of nickel minrealisation contained in serpentinized ultramafics and sulphide facies iron formations. Benton Resources said poor road access had previously hampered historical exploration efforts at Armit Lake but new roads built for logging in the area have greatly improved this situation ahead of its drilling campaign. Armit Lake is located approximately 70 kilometres north-west of Sioux Lookout in north-western Ontario.
