High-grade gold strike in Quebec

Wednesday, 19th March 2008 (6236 views)

High-grade gold mineralisation has been intercepted by the ongoing winter exploration drilling programme underway at the Pitt gold property in Abitibi, Quebec, junior exploration firm Normabec has announced.

The new gold strikes come from the third hole to be completed at the site, which follows two holes that yielded results Normabec described as "impressive".

Intersections from the new hole include 10.43 g/t gold over three metres and 11.11 over 1.8 metres.

Furthermore, there were results of 3.30 g/t gold over six metres, 2.31 g/t gold over 11 metres and 1.61 g/t gold over 34 metres.

Normabec said the results of the third hole are significant because it is the first time that a long, continuously mineralised interval has been recorded at the Pitt property.

It added that 4,500 metres of drilling has now been completed in the current phase and work is ongoing with a single rig. It will continue in order to properly defined zones One and Two at the site, as well as other gold-bearing structures identified in previous rounds of exploration.

In addition to its properties in Quebec, Normabec also operates in Mexico at the Real De Catorce property, which straddles the Sierra de Catorce mountain range.
