Cassidy hits gold in GuineaThursday, 20th March 2008 (6192 views) Reverse circulation drilling at the Kouroussa gold project in Guinea, west Africa, has returned gold grades of up to 4.87 g/t gold over 42 metres, the company behind the work has announced.Cassidy Gold said its drilling campaign is focused on three zones at the property - Junction, Ridge and Bag Farm - and that by March 16th it had completed 88 holes to a total overall depth of 9,488 metres. Highlights of the intervals returned from these holes include 2.52 g/t gold over 20 metres, 2.52 g/t gold over 18 metres and 1.03 g/t gold over 27 metres. True thickness is estimated to be between 90 and 95 per cent of reported intervals for the Junction and Bag Farm zones, but are unknown for Ridge. Cassidy said the drilling was "very successful" in extending the Junction zone to depth and had resulted in higher-grade intercepts that previous exploration. Meanwhile, the company said results from Bag Farm demonstrate that its mineralisation extends up to its boundary with the Junction zone - and preliminary analysis of the Ridge zone returns indicate that its structural controls may be linked to the south-west trending Junction Fault. The Kouroussa gold project covers 1,066 sq km in the highlands of Guinea, 570 kilometres east of the country's capital, Conakry.
