International jeweller Damas has launched a new collection of "Gold and Diamond Masterpieces" to coincide with the religious festival of Akshaya Tritiiya, it has been announced.

The handcrafted Gold Masterpiece consists of a 22ct gold necklace and earrings decorated with traditional Mina enamel. Its design takes its inspiration "from Khumbam and Kalasham, which symbolise eternal prosperity", the company said.

Meanwhile, the Diamond Masterpiece collection comprises a necklace and earrings set in 18ct gold and decorated with diamonds and tourmalines. This time, the designer says, the pieces take their lead from Thoran, which represents good fortune.

Akshaya Tritiiya itself is traditionally regarded as a time for fresh starts, when eternal prosperity is bestowed on new ventures, such as businesses or marriages, as well as any goods bought on the festival day.

Damas managing director Tawhid Abdullah said: "Damas recognises the importance of tradition in our lives ... This is our way of expressing solidarity with our clients during one of the most popular celebrations in the Indian calendar"

The Damas Gold and Diamond Masterpieces are available at Damas outlets in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait.
