High-grade intercepts have been returned from diamond drilling at the Newman Todd project in Ontario, confirming the continuation of a gold trend that now extends over 1.2 kilometres, it has been announced.

Redstar Gold said that gold mineralisation had been intersected in every hole it completed as part of the phase one exploration programme.

According to the company, highlights of the drilling include gold grades of 25.70 g/t gold over one metre and 1.1 g/t gold across 45 metres.

Another hole detected gold graded at 6.24 g/t gold over two metres and 2.96 g/t over nine metres, while the deepest hold completed to date encountered zones of 1.01 g/t gold over 8.5 metres and 7.28 g/t gold over 0.5 metres.

The zone where the drilling took place remains open in all directions, the company added.

Redstar president Scott Weekes said the results from Newman Todd continue to expand the area's "impressive" gold system.

Newman Todd is located in the Red Lake gold camp, one of Canada's richest and most prolific mining districts. It sits in western Ontario, around 1,927 kilometres north-west from Toronto.
