Crescent unveils plans for Brazil gold explorationFriday, 16th May 2008 (630 views) Exploration drilling at the Matupa gold project in Brazil is set to get underway in June, the company developing the site has said.Crescent Resources said it is planning to conduct at least 3,000 metres of drilling to follow up on its previous work, as well as past investigations by other developers. The campaign will target the Serrinha One, Serrinha Two and Filao de Capim zones, it said. Previous drilling in Serrinha One returned gold results of 1.04 g/t gold over 31.5 metres, 0.88 over 13.50 metres and 1.04 g/t gold over 12 metres. Intercepts from Serrinha Two include 1.61 g/t gold over 62.05 metres, 1.24 g/t gold over 49.54 metres and 1.20 over 37.37 metres. Past exploration of the Filao de Capim, meanwhile, recorded gold values of 9.09 g/t gold over two metres and 3.57 g/t gold over two metres. According to Crescent, "large parts" of the Matupa property are covered by artisanal open pit mine works and the area is considered a "historically productive district". The company's other properties include projects in Paraguay and Manitoba, Canada.
