Dynamite prepares for new drilling phase in Canada

Friday, 16th May 2008 (632 views)

Drill crews have arrived onsite at the Mike Lake gold and copper project in the west-central area of the Yukon, Canada, ahead of an 8,500-metre drilling campaign, it has been announced.

Dynamite Resources said the start-up crew will lay the foundations for the work ahead of breaking ground in June 2008.

The programme will focus on the Upper Skarn Ridge target, the company added, an area discovered during Dynamite's 2007 exploration work.

Results from near-surface testing in this zone returned gold values of 1.38 g/t gold over 89 metres.

Drilling will also test other parts of the property for high-grade gold mineralisation similar to the type detected at Upper Skarn Ridge, Dynamite said.

Company president Stan Bharti said he was keen to get exploration of the "exciting new discover" underway again.

"The main objective of the 2008 program will be to calculate an inferred mineral resource based on the Upper Skarn Ridge discovery hole," he added.

The Mike Lake property is located within the Tintina gold belt. Dynamite Resources acquired its option to own the site in May 2004.
