Linear Gold has completed five of its planned six-hole drilling programme at the El Filao high-grade gold vein system in the state of Mato Grosso, northern Brazil, the company has said.

The 1,600-metre campaign is designed to build on a six-hole drilling programme completed by a local operator in the 1990s.

Results from this work included gold values ranging from 9.6 g/t gold to 104 g/t gold over widths varying from 0.7 metres to 1.7 metres, Linear said.

Subsequent trenching samples taken from El Filao along strike from this drilling included grades of 11.8 g/t gold over a width of 80 metres.

Linear added that it is also planning further drilling at the site - with eight holes set to test a 900-metre length of the main vein at a depth of 60 metres.

Another three holes will be completed to test a newly-discovered parallel vein structure, while additional drilling will test for mineralisation down dip.

The El Filao project covers a total of 10,650 hectares in the Alta Floresta gold province. The vein system was discovered in 1992.
