Thursday, 22nd May 2008 (2532 views) The merchandising arm of the Walt Disney Company, Disney Consumer Products, is to launch a new range of gold and jewellery in partnership with Indian-based jewellery house the Popley Group, reports say.The Business Standard states the range will include neckpieces, earrings and rings that will initially be available in four outlets in Mumbai, before going on sale nationally. It adds that the designs for the pieces are inspired by popular Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and "Disney Princesses" such as Snow White, Cinderella Ariel and Pocahontas. Disney Consumer Products India director Roshni Bakshi said the collection would help to "solidify" the company's position in the "high fashion" accessory market. "This limited edition jewellery range demonstrates the broad appeal of the Disney brand to consumers here in India," he added. In related news, a statue of Disney icon Mickey Mouse made from 24ct solid gold was recently unveiled in Tokyo, Japan.
