Explorer increases Trinidad gold estimate

Friday, 30th May 2008 (628 views)

The results of an 8,300-metre drilling programme at the Trinidad property in Mexico has increased the site's inferred gold resource by 119 per cent, it has been announced.

The company developing the site, Oro Gold Resources, said assay results from 70 core and reverse circulation drill holes completed during the campaign have expanded the prospect's mineral estimate to 4.49 million tonnes graded at 1.39 g/t gold for total contained reserves of 200,930 ounces.

Previously, Trinidad's hosted gold was put at 1.62 million tonnes with an average grade of 1.76 g/t for a total of 91,915 ounces of gold.

Oro Gold said round 64 per cent of the new resources were discovered in a mineralised zone hosted around 100 metres north-east of existing pit works, which started around 80 metres below the surface.

Significant intervals returned from this area included gold values of 1.45 g/t gold over 78 metres, 3.30 g/t gold over 30 metres and 1.45 g/t gold over 44 metres.

The Trinidad gold project covers approximately 65,124 hectares in the state of Sinaloa, eastern Mexico.
