Gold Hello Kitty charm launchedTuesday, 24th June 2008 (849 views) Japanese brand Hello Kitty has launched an 18-carat gold mobile phone key ring attachment of the character, according to Mainichi Daily News.The newspaper reported that the mobile phone strap has been created to celebrate the ten-year anniversary "of the launch of the series of Hello Kitty products made to commemorate particular places in Japan". It weighs 1.8 grams and was made by Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry in Tokyo's Ginza. The Gold & Jewelry Tamaya store is selling it for ¥50,000 (£235). Last October the firm behind Hello Kitty, Sanrio, launched a deck of solid gold Hello Kitty playing cards, according to Pink Tentacle. Each card was made from 0.73 grams of 99.99 per cent solid gold. A deck was priced at ¥567,000. In related news, in May this year mobile phone maker Gresso launched the White Diamonds collection. These phones were made from 200 year old African blackwood and white diamonds encased with 18-karat gold. The standard phone costs 9,000.
