Exploration permits received for Viking Gold

Wednesday, 25th June 2008 (391 views)

Northern Abitibi Mining Corporation has announced it has received exploration permits for the Viking gold property.

The surface exploration programme in western Newfoundland is due to start next week.

Previous surveys found a gold-in-soil anomaly, which was four kilometres long, at the site.

Last year Northern Abitibi Mining explored six trenches at the Viking property.

In four of the trenches high grade mineralisation was found with gold values from 8.5 g/t of gold to 246.6 g/t of gold covering an area over 1,500 metres in strike length.

Further exploration in 2008 will see the construction of up to twenty two more trenches.

The company is based in Canada and focuses on mining opportunities in North America.

In July 2007 Northern Abitibi acquired an interest in the Viking gold project after signing an agreement with Altius Resources.

"The agreement allows Northern Abitibi to earn-in a majority interest in the project by issuing 1,115,000 shares of Northern Abitibi, and spending $1,200,000 on exploration over 4 years," according to the company.
