Thursday, 26th June 2008 (1286 views) West African firm Noble is planning to continue operations in Ghana Africa's second largest producer of gold. The company has announced that it will evaluate the Cape Three Points concession that forms part of the Ashanti Gold Belt, believing there to be "significant potential for the delineation of additional high-grade gold mineralisation". In addition to this project, the firm said that the site also features several other project areas that will be explored in the future. Wayne Norris, Noble's managing director, said: "Our Ghanaian projects are in an area that is in close proximity and along strike from several very successful neighbouring companies including Newmont Mining, AngloGold Ashanti, Redback Mining and Adamus Resources, so it's clear that we have prime land on which to explore." The company is "very confident" that it will uncover a "significant" gold mining operation in the country, which already offers "excellent infrastructure". Ghana has a population of 20 million people and, aside from gold, its main exports are cocoa and timber.
