Sub-Sahara Resources has completed the first stage of its drilling campaign at the Mabale Hills venture in Tanzania.

Some 3,000 metres of rotary air blast and reverse circulation drilling have now been conducted as part of the project, reports Mineweb.

Commenting on the development, managing director Michael Griffiths said: "The Stage One drilling has returned low grade anomalism. We have been technically successful and we now need to turn this success into economic realities."

He added that his organisation still has "a number of high order targets to process", but remains confident that the venture "can be developed to capitalise on higher gold prices".

The work is part of a joint venture with TSX-V listed Currie Rose Resources , which is focusing on the Simba and Dhahabu prospects.

Sub-Sahara is an Australian junior exploration company based in Perth, Western Australia.
