De Grey starts drilling at BeyondieWednesday, 17th September 2008 (356 views) De Grey mining has commenced work on its Beyondie project in Western Australia.Reverse-circulation drilling has now begun on the 2,600km2 site, which is located 160km south of Newman. Past results obtained in the area from holes spaced 1km apart provided base metal mineralisation of up to 0.22 g/t gold. Drilling was temporarily delayed at the location due to a change in Native Title representation in the region. However, after successful heritage surveys were conducted, drilling was given to go-ahead and started over the summer. Seven holes over 1,500 metres are expected to be analysed with assay results due to be released in October. The company hopes to make progress towards uncovering a potential high-grade body of mineralisation. Managing director Gary Brabham said that the project represents a "bold test the size of the potential prize makes this a must-do program for De Grey". Meanwhile, overall gold production in Australia fell by 13 per cent in the quarter ending in June.
