Carpathian Gold has provided an update on its exploration activities at the Rovina Valley project in central Romania.

Three extra drill holes have been completed on the site since the last update.

Drilling has been focused on the Ciresata Porphyry zone, which was discovered by the company earlier this year.

Results from this area comprised of 0.79 g/t Au over 516 metres, 1.12 g/t Au over 177 metres and 1.24 g/t Au over 114 metres.

President and chief executive officer of Carpathian, Dino Titaro, commented that the addition of the "gold-rich" porphyry complex to the project will "complement the anticipated economic viability of an integrated mining operation".

He added that he expects the results to add "significantly" to the resource base of the area.

Recently UK-based Lydian International released results from the Amulsar gold project in Armenia.

Figures from a 18-hole campaign included 1.6 g/tAu over 125 metres.
