Mariana Resources (UK) has stated that it has discovered high grade gold in rock chips at its wholly-owned Pampa del Tongoril II prospect in southern Argentina.

The company claims that the rock chip gold results from the prospect, located 50km north of the Tres Cerros in the east of Santa Cruz province are "promising".

A new zone has been discovered 600m to the north of a previously reported 700m north-west trending zone of multiple quartz-sulphide stockwork veining and vein breccias.

Visible gold has been found in limonitic vugs with assays ranging from 0.5 to 18.9 g/t of gold in the new zone, which consists of suboutcroping vein breccias striking north-east for over 400m.

Mariana Resources is a Guernsey-based exploration company with a portfolio of mineral tenements and gold and copper-gold prospects focused in Argentina and Chile.
