Wednesday, 24th December 2008 (985 views) Osisko Mining has announced the results of a definition drilling programme currently underway at the South Barnat gold mineralised zone north-east of the Malartic deposit in Canada. The mining firm reported that significant intersections included 116.9m averaging 1.85 g/t gold (BA08-3211), 3.34 g/t gold over 52.9m (BA08-3208) and 1.68 g/t gold over 113m (BA08-3207). Osisko has published the results of a total of 20 new holes on the property and assay results for further holes at South Barnat are pending, as the definition drill programme focuses on an 850m-long grid with drill sections spaced 25m apart. The company is currently developing its Canadian Malartic gold deposit and adjacent areas into a large-scale open pit, bulk-tonnage mining operation. Osisko announced the results of a "positive" feasibility study last month of the Malartic gold project, including modelling of an optimised engineered pit resulting in a proven and probable mineral reserve estimate of 6.2 million ounces.
