Jewellery by Loree Rodkin was chosen by the US First Lady for the Inaugural Ball.

Michelle Obama has chosen the designers work on previous occasions, including election night and she first discovered Loree Rodkin at Chicago boutique Ikram.

The jewellery worn by the First Lady to the ball on her husband's first day as US president will form part of the permanent collection of Washington's Smithsonian Museum.

"It's a privilege to be a part of history," Ms Rodkin stated. "Words cannot describe the emotions I feel that Michelle Obama has allowed me to be a part of this glorious moment."

US-based designer Loree Rodkin's collections are available at specialty stores around the world, at Neiman Marcus outlets in North America and at Loree Rodkin boutiques in Japan.

She uses modern and medieval techniques to craft unique pieces of jewellery that have been worn by stars such as Madonna, Virginia Madsen and Cher.
