Padma Lakshmi is creating a new gold jewellery collection that is inspired by culinary ingredients and her Indian heritage.

The fine jewellery range from the former model, television presenter and cookery writer will comprise necklaces, cuffs and rings.

Debuting in May this year, the Padma collection is "inspired by things like seeds and pods, like cardamom, lentils and cloves", combining her love of food with her passion for jewellery.

The range will be launched at Bergdorf Goodman and Lakshmi has claimed that it will be "exotic" and cover both day and evening wear.

Key pieces in the collection include dangling gold earrings, gold cuffs with charms and delicate necklaces.

Meanwhile, a new collection from Links of London, entitled Flutter & Wow, has been launched by the firm's new creative director Elizabeth Galton for spring/summer 2009 and is inspired by the capital.

The range, which features an asymmetric gold heart-shaped cage as a motif, includes a statement bangle with spinning gold charms and an 18-c gold pendant.
