The Narayanhity Palace Museum was officially opened by Nepali prime minister Prachanda and has a total of 19 rooms open to the public initially. Located in the capital Kathmandu, the museum was home to the Nepali royal family, who ruled the Himalayan nation for 240 years. Gold items on show in the palace include an ornate throne crafted from gold and silver. A number of gold items have been placed on display at the newly reopened Iraqi National Museum in Baghdad, though gold jewellery and ceremonial objects found in the ancient royal tombs of Ur and Nimrud are currently held at a secure location until it is safe for them to be on show.
