A resumption of operations in the Los Zorros gold project in Chile will concentrate on the extraction of high-quality material, Samex Mining Corporation has said.

The firm stated that it will be resuming its exploratory work at the site, which is intended to advance the work carried out in the first phase of its programme.

During Phase 1, the company discovered notable high-quality deposits in the Nora target area, as well as the Cinchado target area, which contains the old San Pedro mine.

The corporation also found significant results at the Milagro and West Florida sites, which will be among the target areas subjected to further research in the new phase.

In all, there will be seven areas investigated further in the 80 sq km area of the Los Zorros project.

Earlier this month, Samex announced that it would be concentrating its exploration efforts on Chile, while carrying out no such work in Bolivia this year.

It said it would scale back its work in the latter country to a "care and maintenance" level due to the "continuing political uncertainties" there.
