Wednesday, 27th May 2009 (812 views) Several gold coins will be among the items being sold at auction in Baltimore next month.Numismatic News reports that Bowers and Merena is holding the event over three sessions on June 11th and 12th. Collectors will have the chance to purchase a number of gold coins, including a Panama-Pacific $50 (£31) commemorative example dating back to 1915. The news source explained that just 483 of the PCGS MS-64 pieces were minted. Also featuring in the auction will be an AU-55 1796 $10 Bust Right, as well as an 1853 US Assay Office of Gold $20 coin. Earlier this month, Numismatic News noted that an 1856 Liberty Head gold coin is being put up for sale by Heritage Auction Galleries during the Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo in California. Just 2,250 of the coins were minted, making it an example of the rarest New Orleans Double Eagle $20 piece.
