Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has been announced as the new brand ambassador for several gold jewellery collections due to be launched by Gitanjali.

The star has lent her name to Gitanjali's Sagaai range of bridal jewellery, as well as the ME Solitaire line and the Parineeta collection of Mughal-inspired wedding pieces.

Commenting on the endorsement, Kapoor told Screen Weekly: "Jewellery enhances the beauty of a woman," adding that she particularly loves yellow gold jewellery set with diamonds.

Kapoor is expected to release her own line of jewellery under the Kareena brand in the near future.

Gold jewellery has been particularly popular as bridal presents in India since ancient times and is worn by a number of top Bollywood stars.

Earlier this month, a gold jewellery store launched through a joint venture of Middle Eastern jeweller Damas and Gitanjali was opened by Bollywood actress Neetu Chandra in Mumbai, according to DeJoria.
