Indian model and TV star Padma Lakshmi was recently seen stepping out in pieces from her own line of gold jewellery, according to reports.

People magazine says that Lakshmi was snapped wearing large gold earrings, a long gold necklace and golden bangles from her own collection while on her way to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Over 50 styles of gold jewellery at prices of up to $6,600 (£4,003) make up Lakshmi's range, which went on sale earlier this year.

Lakshmi - who currently hosts US TV show Top Chef - took inspiration from various Indian food ingredients when designing the pieces, she said.

"It's inspired by things like seeds and pods, like cardamom, lentils and cloves," Lakshmi explained when the collection was unveiled.

In addition to her modelling career, the star has previously appeared in numerous TV programmes and films, and has also written a number of cookbooks.
