The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has announced that its third IIJS Signature event - which highlights luxury gold and other jewellery - will take place in Goa next year.

Running from February 19th to 22nd, the invitation-only fair will see 250 companies showcase their high-end jewellery products.

The aim of the event is to position India as a top source for luxury jewellery in the global market.

Navin Jashnani, managing director of Sama Jewellery and ex-convener of IIJS Signature, said that it is hoped the fair will give jewellers a boost during the key Indian wedding season, which will run until February next year.

"The entire industry received a tremendous response during IIJS Mumbai, which has continued till Diwali ... Retailers should not miss this show," he commented.

Jewellers recently reported increases in gold buying as the wedding season - which coincides with India's most important festival period - continues, according to Reuters.
